01
The photograph is encrypted on your device.
Before a gallery photo is uploaded, the browser encrypts its file content. The uploaded photo data is encrypted rather than an ordinary readable image.
When a client opens the gallery, the browser uses the password and the gallery encryption information to decrypt the photograph for display.
02
Your password matters.
Choose a gallery password that is difficult to guess and keep a copy somewhere you can retrieve it. Share the password with the intended recipients; sending it through a separate channel can reduce accidental exposure.
The raw gallery password is not sent as part of the client login request. A password hash is used to check access, while the browser decrypts the photograph content.
03
Understand the limits.
Encryption protects the uploaded photo content. It does not mean that every piece of account or gallery information is anonymous. Account details and service information still need to be processed to run the product.
A person who can view or download a photograph can also copy it. Be deliberate about who receives the link and password, and choose download permissions that fit the job.
04
Keep an independent backup.
Gallery passwords cannot be recovered in a way that restores access to encrypted photographs if the necessary password is lost. Keep your original files independently of the gallery.
Treat a client gallery as a delivery and collaboration space. Your own backup remains important even when a gallery stays available online.
A few useful answers
What if someone forwards the gallery link?
The link alone does not provide the decryption password. Sharing both the link and password can give another person access, so keep both within the intended audience.
Is my public portfolio encrypted like a client gallery?
The portfolio is designed to be public. Choose photographs you are comfortable publishing there; private client delivery belongs in a protected gallery.
